      Hi all
I found a ruby which will divide a selected line into a wanted number of sections.this is just what I need, but I have never used a ruby. Can anyone send me to where I can learn all about the ruby world, how do I dowmload it into SU and then use it. are they all safe to try out?
      Thanks Daniel

Usually a plugin(ruby) it has to be put into Program files\Google\Google SketchUp \Plugins .(remember to restart Sketchup if its running)
If it has interface will appear an icon for it ..if not try to find it in Tools ,Window or Plugins of sketchup toolbar
        s.
Most of the rubys are safe but they may be not very well developed and in some situations appears bugs.

I hope u ll find my advice useful.

          Hi Daniel, hi folks.

Maybe I missed something but why are you requiring a ruby to do a function that is already available in SU. Right click a line and choose "Divide" in the contextual menu. You can specify the number of segments in the "Dimension window" (VCB in V6 and prior versions) or do it interactiveley by watching the red endpoints as you move the cursor along the line and also watch the resulting number of segments in the "Dimension window" (VCB).

          Just ideas.

            Hi Jean,

Ther is a ruby by Didier which doesn't actually divide just inserts guide points - thus keeping poly count down (or for whatever reasons).
            Maybe this is the plugin.

            Gai...
