Circle/Holes on a Curved Surface
-
I'm trying to curve a surface with holes/circles on it or put holes onto an already curved surface with no luck. When I push/pull it won't let me push any further than what the picture below shows. Can anyone tell me if or how this can be done? Thanks

i run into this sometimes..
the first thing i try (and it works out most of the time) is to use the follow me tool instead of push/pull..
select a line that you want your radius to follow then click the follow me button in the tool barif that doesn't work for you, upload the .skp file and i'll be able to show you what to do..

I haven't used the follow me tool yet I'll have to mess around to see if that works. Thanks. I think I may need to start over though since the push pull can't be undone.

If your push/pull will work for a limited distance (it refuses to go beyond a certain point), you can often make it go beyond that point by keying a greater length in the measurement input box in the lower right hand corner and hitting ENTER.

Ok so I got the follow me to work but now I can't erase the curved part from inside the circle. Any tips for dealing with this? Thanks

select everthing, right click, intersect>with model. then you will have new faces created that you can delete.
PS its seems you have some reversed faces there (purple) you should reverse them if you plan to render or post to 3Dwarehouse.

So I making some progress. Thanks to everyone for the help. Here's where things stand now.
I want to export this to a CAD file for CNC routing. Will the resulting file be accurate enough for something like that? The only problem I have now you can see in this close up. I'm missing a panel and the circle is a little ragged. Is there a smoothing function or something similar that can help with this.
This is what I'm trying to recreate in the finished product.
Again thanks to everyone for the help.

How big is your model? if it is quite small then sometimes faces dont close. To be more specific, when faces get smaller than 1mm square they tend not to close reliably.
As for making the model smoother, youd really need to start again and use more sides for your circle. You can do this by typing in the number of sides you want immediately after selecting the circle tool, you'll then need to press enter.

i noticed that you have a flat back and a rounded face. why don't you just draw your circles on the back (flat face) then extrude them up through the front. you can the select the intersecting faces?

Success!!! Thanks Everyone.
