Hi Edson,
Any particular reason why it needs to be free...??
To my knowledge, you can't just get things for free unless there's something else to it...
(I.e. some kind of advertising...)Besides... Today there's a number of good and reliable web-hosts, where you can get your own domain + web-hotel for a very low price...
Check our One.com (I've linked to their PortuguΓͺs site)
Price per month is 1.25 EUR... Then you need to get your own domain, which will have an annual cost, but still fairly inexpensive...
Or what about 1 & 1..??Too many claim to be award winning web hosts, but obviously not all can be award winners...
I'm sure otheres will join you here with their recommendations and experiences...
Good luck..!!

hi kim,
yes, there is a particular reason for my search of a free web host. i actually have a web host, and a quite good one at that, where my website is hosted. and i am not planning on leaving it. however, since i plan to create a new design for my site i would like to create a kind of ghost site on which to learn and play as much as i want online.
i will check your suggestions. a cheap hosting alternative would also do.
thanks for helping out.

I'm not an expert by any means but you should be able to use a Subdomain, right? I know that my web host lets you define subdomains. I could be way off on this.

Not even a subdomain but how about simply a "test" subfolder like (from your signature) http://www.mahfuz.arq.br/test/ under which of course you put an index.htm(l) page to start with. You don't need to make it public as long as you are playing around with it but at least you can fully test what works on your hosted site and what not.
