Remember component-grasping-point when pasting
-
when I select a component from the component window and place it in the scene, it will be attached to the cursor by it's origin point. when I then grab any copy of this component at a different point and set it down again, SU will remember this. when I now choose this component from the component window again, it will be attached to my cursor by this last point.
that is a damn intelligent behavior and can come in very handy.what I would really like to see is this SU doing the same, when I copy and paste a component. at the moment, when I paste it, the component will always be attached to the cursor by it's origin.
and while we are at it. it would be marvelous, if this 'remember-last-grasping-point' function when copying and pasting could be added to groups as well. -
I did find a way to change the insertion point when copying and pasting, in this thread, but quite involved, and it would far better it did it just 'remember-last-grasping-point'straight.

but isn't it easier then to simply press the Ctrl button once when moving the object?
my problem becomes obvious, when you copy something, then enter another group and then paste the object in there (then you can't select the original object to define the insertion point).
I am not sure if I completely understood your technique though. maybe I just didn't get it

Hi Pot-paris sorry it was of no use
Yes you can use the CTRL key when moving, and pick the insertion point or grasp point each time.
The idea with the technique was to be able to continually paste an object(and pick its grasp point), with it sticking to your cursor, as the Autocad copy function until you press exit or as in this case release CTRL&V. NB the selected object thats being copied and pasted has to be exploded, does not work with groups or components but it works OK when pasting inside groups. Quick video - don't know if that helps its my first one - sorry no sound.
I agree with you "it would be marvellous, if this 'remember-last-grasping-point' function when copying and pasting could be added to groups as well"
