Forming faces on curved surfaces?

Try this, using the follow me tool:

Hi Craig,
It is natural tghat you cannot get a surface from these arcs ince that surface would not be "coplanar" (i.e. the edges of the arcs and the top and bottom lines are not on the same plane which is needed for a face to be created).
If you hover over the arc with the line tool, you will see green inferences" and tooltips saying "Endpoint". Now what you would need is to "hand stitch the respective endpoints between two arcs and at the end, soften the edges.
Another way would be to form curved surfaces first, copy rotate them around the centre and intersect them with each other. After intersecting, you can delete unwanted geometry.
A third (probably easiest) way would be to draw the 2d section of the roof vertically on the top of the tower and use the follow me tool (see an example file added)
LatheRoof.skp
In your model, just connect the ends of two arcs diagonally on the opposite corner (a face should be created), select the edges of the top square and click on the diagonal face with the follow me tool -
Darn, Pete, you beat me...

SketchUp must not like me...
I can't even get a face to form by doing what appears to be the exact same thing Pete is doing.
If I just draw the roof like what Pete showed... I get this:
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8094/picture4pr2.pngIf I draw a straight line from point to point... I get a face:
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/350/picture5xk3.pngBUT!! If I delete the original lines, the straight edge and the arc will form a face:
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/2720/picture6rq7.pngAND!! If I undo that delete and delete the arc, the face will stay intact:
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5797/picture7wi2.pngFor the life of me, this makes no sense... One side of the arc will allow a face to form, but not the other. I've deleted everything and started over to make sure everything was on the right plane... still nothing.
This doesn't seem like it should be this hard... but I'm at a loss.

Here is the .skp of roof before 'follow me'.

The order to draw the shape for me would be:
draw the line down first. Then the flat line, then a straight line to connect and make a flat face. Then draw the arc, and make sure its not too big or too arched. if its too arched, it can overlap the line going straight down, which will result in problems - like faces not closing.

OK... Yes. If I delete your work, I have no problem reproducing it. As I suspected... user error.
I don't know why, but following the blue axis down was what was giving me the problem. Make's me think there is something wrong with the model somewhere. Ohhh well! I have the curved roof now! Thank you for your patience and help.

Hi cdde!
you probably don't need this any more, but I just thought it might be a good idea to share the infor.
here is how I do it on my model: see attach
