Tapers
-
I'd like to see an extension of the scaling mechanism.
Simple objects are no problem, I can select part of them and scale it and the rest follows. Complex objects can't be tapered this way.
Could there be another modifier key to use with Scale? We use Option/Alt to scale about center and Shift to toggle Uniform Scale. Maybe Command to scale just an end or side of the object?
I think of this working by scaling across the side of the grid of scaling handles, rather than through the center as Scale works now. I've made a simple file that shows what I mean.
I'm cross-posting this in the Ruby Forums as well.
Thanks,
Jim

the problem is, that (unless you subdivide the model first) faces may have to be broken. therefore it adds a whole new level to the process of deformation.
fortunately a plugin already exists, that can do that - FFD (free form deformator)
is that what you were looking for? -
I think it just might work, plot-paris. Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try.
Best,
Jim
