Rectangles not Parallel
-
I have a couple of different pretty simple shapes I drew using the rectangle tool and push pull, I want to look at a front , parallel view of them, then export them into cad, when I set up the front view, then set the camara to parallel they are not square, any ideas on why this is, the rectangle tool should automatically draw square correct? Thanks for any help.

I dont suppose you could post the model? im rubbish at trying to work out whats going on without having a model in front of me.

yes here is one of the components, its a planter box, i basically want to be able to show an elevation of it, but when i make is parallel and look at the front its not parallel

It seems like your model was rotated slightly for some reason, I rotated it back so it should all be square now.

thanks remus!!, do you know how i did that? alot of my drawings come out slighty not square, is it something i have to set up at the begining of the drawing?

I'd recomend leaving your axis on. Since you have it off, there's no way of knowing that you're off axis.
I'm not sure how you get the rectangle tool to draw off axis though. I'm guessing you somehow rotated everything at some point. And again, with the axes turned on, I think you'd be more likely to notice it when you do it.
Keep it up!

I think all experienced users draw with the axes always on. As they don't render, I can't think of any reason to turn them off...apart from the very exceptionl case of showing a client a walkthrough of the model.
As Chris says, you are much mre likely to spot elementary mistakes if they are visible. For instance, we quite often get questions relating to a mysterious grey shadow hovering above the ground. If the newbie had had the axes on, it would have been immediately obvious that the model was set below the origin; and that the shadow was actually on the ground, as specified in the Shadow dialog box....and that it was the model that was too low, not the shadows that were too high.
