Clipping Path Question

I want to be able to do what I can do with InDesign, Quark XP -- move the content of a frame around, independent of the frame, to, well, 'frame' a part of the content image.
I thought I could use Clipping Paths to do this, but all they seem to do is crop the image...
Anyone know what I mean, or am I just talking out me erse?

Joking aside - yes, clipping does exactly that; crops your image, nothing else. So you will either need another solution or file a feature request.
