Hi Henri, welcome to the forums.

It's possible, but the exact method depends on how you want to use the information.

        Hi

          Hi Jim,

          Thanks for the fast reaction.
It is a bit of a habit from the time I worked with MultiGen. Sometimes I want to check if a point is at the right position.
With a model I worked on to learn SU I mirrored a part and after this I couldn't remove parts of the centreline. I want to check if all the points are on the same X position, maybe I moved it a bit.

          Henri

            Hi Henri,

If (with non grouped) geometry, you simply place the Text tool onto a certain endpoint, by default,it will show the xyz co-ordinates. The same is done with the Query tool (Tools > Utilities - provided that you enabled extensions in your Window >Preferences).

If you need any more sophisticated method (exporting all your xyz info for instance), Jim will be a better friend of yours than I am.

As for not being able to delete the centerline, there is a known bug in SU when - in exactly this case, even with coplanar edges and neighbouring faces, with fairly complex geometry - it is impossible without deleting faces as well and such.

            There is a workaround however;

            1. make the half into a group first
            2. do the mirroring and aling the twopats (two groups now)
            3. explode the groups and try to get rid of the centerline now.
Of course maybe this wasn't the exact problem but one never knows...

              Hi Csaba,

This was the exact problem, thanks for your help. Also the Text function was very helpful.

              Henri

                Ha, good!

I somehow start learning minds nowadays. But of course, some routine in remembering other posts also help, e.g. this one recently: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=14768
