This one made me laugh:
"Good Day,
I have a business of US$22.4million for you. Please contact me for details.
Joseph Poon."Short, sweet and to the point.
Any other good ones youve gotten lately?
-
Apart from the viagra and casino ones?
-
Just the usual format along the lines of:
"You do not know me but I know one of your relatives in Chad. Yes you do have a relative in Chad. Anyway that's academic as they are now dead. However they have bequeathed you several million in Chad francs, an emu farm and a doughnut mine. If you are interested please send me your bank details, and if you can spare it, your passport........."

A temporary respite, as reported yesterday.

I have just banned/deleted a spammer. Has anyone seen his replica watch posts? He (she?) was still online.
-
Yes I saw the posts, this forum seems like an odd place to try to sell counterfeit watches.
-
Well, they try a lot of things (thank God we are not overwhelmed).
Even "spreading" the links everywhere can be useful because of search engines.

Then comes this one:

I am Mrs Joy Collins from London,I am 69 years old,i am deaf and suffering
from a long time cancer of the breast which also affected my brain, from
all indication my conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite
obvious that, according to my doctors they have advised me that i may not
live for the next two months, this is because the cancer stage has gotten
to a very bad stage. I was brought up from a motherless babies home was
married to my late husband for twenty years without a child ,died in a
fatal motor accident Before his death we were true Christians.Since his death I decided not to re-marry,I sold all my inherited
belongings and deposited all the sum of $12million dollars with a Security
Company.Presently, this money is still with them and the management just
wrote me as the true owner to come forward to receive the money for
keeping it so long or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody
to receive it on my behalf since I can not come over because of my illness
or they get it confisticated.Presently, I'm with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing
treatment for cancer of the lungs. I have since lost my ability to talk
and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live.It is my last wish to see that this money is invested to any organisation
of your choice and distributed each year among the charity
organization, the poor and the motherless babies home where i come from.I
want you God fearing, to also use this money to fund churches, orphanages
and widows,I took this decision, before i rest in peace because my time
will soon be up.As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the
Security Company.I will also issue you a letter of authority that will
prove you as the new beneficiary of my fund. Please assure me that you
will act accordingly as I stated herein. Hoping to hearing from you soon.Sometimes i do wish theyd learn to put together a sentence properly.

That's priceless....a 69 year old granny using a laptop from her hospital bed.

On the next line it uses the US "gotten" instead of the English "got", followed by a whole string of other Americanisms like "wrote me".I don't think there's a single line in the whole article that rings true.

If it didn't work, they'd stop doing it.

Nice find Jim! These stories should receive more spotlight!

I just read somewhere that spamming is so inexpensive that the spammers still make a nice profit even if they get one click from 2.4 million postings. That's what keeps them doing it.

PyPal's reommendation for these cases ia to forward such an email to spoof(at)paypal(dot)com.
They will investigate and end you feedback if it was really a spoof email. Also, their policy is to NEVER ASK FOR SUCH DETAILS IN EMAIL.

Ignore anything that says it's from Paypal that doesn't address you by name.
Edit: I didn't actually mean ignore, I meant don't act on it and send them any info. You should do as Gaieus says and forward it to PP. I've done this several times and they have always got back to me confirming it's a fake and have taken action agaimst the fraudsters.
-
And a reply email to what I forwarded to them as a suspicious phishing email looks like this:
