Hey everyone. I'll introduce myself first. I'm Chad. I'm an urban planning student and have recently started using sketchup. I'm grateful in that it makes my school work fun. Anyways...

Does anyone else have a problem with the program freezing? I'm working on a model now and the program honestly freezes at least once a minute...doesn't seem to freeze when i'm using the paint bucket tool tho. (????) It's annoying to have to ctrl+alt+delete after every rectangle I draw. Literally, it is that bad.

I've browsed the forum briefly and have absolutely no idea what the ruby console is. I started up sketchup to check it out and it looks like I have to know computer coding to use it? Can anyone help here?

I'll show my model I have been working on. It's a section of the city of Rochester, NY at E. Main Street and S. Clinton downtown. You can maps.live.com it for a birdseye if you want to compare. Any suggestions would be great!

1)try playing around with the hardware acceleration and fast feedback (window->preferences->opengl.) Thats the most common cause of speed problems.
2)the ruby console basically allows you to issue commands to SU using the ruby API. Unless you start coding ruby you can browse over it for the moment.
3)Nice model!
And hello, its always nice to meet new people.

one thing jumps right at me, i see a site plan, a bunch of staircases, but not a single ramp for a wheelchair. I am sorry, maybe i am missing something? -

Maybe the place was built before ramps were a requirement?

I have been building the model using aerial photographs and google earth's street view. There could be a ramp somewhere but not that I could see.
