    Greetings all.
First I must say that I have some basic experience in SU.
Not being totally newbie that is.

Now, I wander could anyone direct me shortly what would be best
way of designing complex curved surface (like hull of a plane for example)
in SU? Where to start, what tools to use next etc.

    Thx.

Probably the first thing to consider is your choice of tools, the 2 that spring to mind are soap skin bubble and subd and smooth. Both these plugins allow complex curved forms to be achieved.

If your plannign on doing a serious amount of stuff like this, and especially if accuracy is important, youd probably be better of looking at something like rhino or MoI as both these programs are better for representing complex surfaces accurately, whereas SU (as a poly modeler) can only do good approximations of the surfaces.

        Thanks. I'll try with that.
And no to both your later remarks, I dont plan to go
heavy with this stuff. I've seen on other people models that
SU has enough power for things I need.

            Subdivide and Smooth:

http://www.smustard.com/script/SubdivideAndSmooth This costs $22 though. Most people on here will swear by it though.

            Soap Skin Bubble:

http://www.tensile-structures.de/sb_software.html No charge, but it will run out on the 10th September and give a warning each day Sketchup is used to that effect.
