is it possible to automatically save a scene every second?
-
Perhaps not the best of ideas. Something tells me this'll cause splats.
-
Yes, it's possible. I'm now searching for an old script that does something similar - i can never remember the name of it.
-
Hi Jim - yes, we already talked (and tried) that script (recorder)
http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=5870&p=37034&hilit=+navigator+cadfather#p37034it doesn't really work - i think if i can get a view saved every sec, i could do a 30 second journey with the space navigator and my prediction/hope is that the scenes would be much better than any other process so far tried..

It should be easy to modify to use a timer instead of an event. Let me see what i can do.
Here's the original post by the author, for reference:

Thanks Jim... i will try not to move from the chair..

CadFather,
I sent you the plugin via a PM. I don't want to distribute it to the public in it's current state.
I can shine it up if you or anyone thinks it is worthwhile.

Do you think that can work with SketchyPhysics? I mean.. create something like 25 scenes per second?

Hehe, I totally misunderstood the request! CadFather wants to add a scene to the model at a timed interval. I wrote the plugin to save an image of the view at a timed interval.
It's no problem - just need to change one, maybe 2 lines...

It can be made to function like that, but I can't say if it would work. I can only just run SketchUp, let alone SP on this old computer.
Did you mean for it to save images, or add scenes?
-
The idea will be that the plugin add scenes, so maybe we can use the sketchup output to export the scenes as animation.
And this can make possible to render every scene and have a photoreal sketchyphysics animation.

Jim, it does works like a charm - fantastic - Thank You!
EDIT: ok, it seems to suspend 'while using' the space navigator: when you fly, the pages are not saved, as you stop flying, they start saving again..
-
I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about that.
It works for me when using the Walk and Look tools. On a small, simple model at least.
-
Jim yes, works just great without the space navigator
but that means half of my wish has already been granted!
Edit: [now i just wait for sketchup 7 inbuilt flight simulator. after all google earth has it..]
-
Would it be possible to make this ruby available for public.
That would be great ! -
i second the idea of automatic camera recording (if it works with space nav).
and if all the created cameras can be joined by a polyline, even if their number exceeds sanity - the polyline can be tweaked with the bezier tools and scenes recreated with flightpath
