I am Belgian, but I have family living in Fargo (Microsoft people) . Does that count? πŸ˜„
On my next visit, going to Minneapolis is on the schedule.

Err... good enough for me. Give me a holler when you come to Minneapolis. I was more interested in maybe meeting with some local users who also come to SCF.

Here's a question for you though. When did you finally decide to invest some time into learning "rendering" programs. It seems that I've only dabbled here and there with rendering programs and nothing is compelling me to teach myself these applications while I seem to have become enthralled with sketchup. I guess ultimately if you have a need to do high end rendering then you learn it. but it seems to me that there are a lot of people who are just driven to create better and better renderings and strive to learn all the rendering applications out there. I seem to remember that you are quite adept at many of the rendering applications. Did you get interested in them out of necessity or just curiosity?

          Hi Phil,

Is Rochester close enough? I used to live in St. Paul before I committed matrimony.

            Phil,

You're not the only one. I just didn't see this part of the forum before.

Phil, pleased to meet you. As I mentioned before, I'll be moving to the St Cloud area in July. I look forward to meeting some of the people in my "neighborhood". πŸ˜„

                Peace!

Hi Nick, Madison (well, Verona) is where I grew up. Have you been in Madison long? What would make you move to Stearns county? πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

I've been in Madison about 10 years. Went to college here at the UW where I met my wife. She just finished grad school here and we're moving up to the College of Saint Benedict where we will be living in the dorms!! It sounds as crazy to me as it probably does to you πŸ˜„ My wife will be a Residence Director there, and I'll pack up my business in a box and move it right along with us.

                    Thanks for asking. πŸ˜„

How about you, Dave, how long have you been in Rochester, and the Twin Cities before that?

Well, the College of St. Benedict isn't quite the same as Stearns county so that's alright. I hope your move goes well and that the position works well for your wife. I imagine you can do your work pretty much anywhere?

I've been in Rochester for a bit over 9 years. As I mentioned, I moved here when I committed matrimony--my wife already had a house down here and I was able to get a job at Mayo Clinic. That job must have been a sign because the department I'm in hadn't hired a new staff person in the 7 years before and I was the new guy until last August. My job started 1 week before we got married. I lived in the Twin Cities for 15 years before that.

I still kind of miss Madison. The Statue of Liberty off the Memorial Union, Babcock Hall ice cream, flamingos on Bascom Hill, Paul Soglin's Boom Box Parade down State St. Art (What is art?) the Window Washer.... πŸ˜„

Anyone else from Minneapolis going to 3D Basecamp? I was lucky enough to get chosen.

I did not see this post before. I was at basecamp it would have been nice to meet up with you. You can send me emails directly if you want to have an MN-SU user group meeting.
