Cutting things in half is there a better way?
-
Sometimes I clean up overly complex forms by sliding a block through the "object." I then use Select all, and "Intersect with model" to create a new edge. I have been manually erasing all the excess material at the edge of the block.
Is there an efficient way of doing this?
I would love a tool that highlights any line shorter than a specified length. It would make this part a lot easier.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Hi John, hi folks.
Try orbitting or using any of the standard view so that the cutting plane is perpendicular to the observer. Disable perspective. After that, using a right to left Selection Window shall allow you to select all the geometries that are on one side of the cut and delete them in one shot, unless you have real short stuff that will need zooming in to clean-up.
Just ideas.

If youve got subd and smooth, you could also try the following:
Turn on hidden geometry (view->hidden geometry) select roughly the bit you want to cut in half, turn it into a group. Open the group and use the knife tool to put an intersection through the model.

Use two tools ..first use the section plane tool to get a section through your model...then use zorro to cut through using the section plane as a guide...works well

Dear Dave,
Sounds like an interesting method. Would you like to do a brief tut as I'm not sure I understand the technique.
Thanks,
Bob
