What's your bevelling solution?
-
As we all know, SU doesn't have a bevelling tool. Now, I'm wondering how y'all overcome that. Do you take your SU models into other apps? If so, what's your workflow?
-
i just dont bother most of the time. I should stop being so lazy really.
-
If it's really important, I usually just do it by hand (follow-me).
But, most of my models (now) only get modeled to be rendered, in which case I use Kerkythea's beveling. -
Well ... I've resorted to bevelling by hand, using FollowMe and, in some cases, AutoFold. Works fine, but it's a fairly time consuming process. Nevertheless, I can't do without bevels. Either that's true, or I'm just picky.
I wanted to go to church tomorrow, but I can't. More bevelling to do. But hey, laborare est orare.

Is this what you need?

Thanks, Jim. Already tried that one. Doesn't have any real advantage over bevelling by hand, IMO.
(Whaat pointed out some time ago he thinks SU 7 will have a bevelling tool. I think he's right. The Google boys aren't dumb - I'm sure they're aware of what people would like to see added to SU.)

Here's a couple of ideas for approaching bevels from a different angle. Sometimes faster than Follow Me, sometimes not...it depends on what you are doing.
I use the smoothing break quite extensively; it helps keep flat faces with rounded edges looking flat instead of somewhat pneumatic.

Simply, yet effective. Thanks Alan.
