Joe, I guess I don't know a lot about Mr. Limbert but he was quite the prolific architect from back in the days when architects also designed the furniture to go into their houses. Think the Greenes in California and others. As to the arrangement of the rails and stiles on the door, I agree with you but I drew it as the originals were made. If I were building this piece I might change it to be more like traditionally done with the stiles covering the ends of the rails but for the model it is an "as built" thing. [image: OcNX_656.jpg]

Of course a plan needs to be detailed but the woodworker won't be making these parts. If they are at least recognizable and you specify them in the materials list and identify them with labels, the woodworker will have more than enough information. I draw lots of plans and always have to include hardware but there's never been a case where I had to have fine detail drawn on that hardware.

Dave, I used the Killen method: Draw the square portion of the leg. Hide a face. Draw a pommel shape along a diagonal and extrude it. Unhide the face and then intersect the square portion with the extruded pommel shape. Your method entails fewer steps and much less clean-up.

Personally I like the model but as a desk I wouldn't like having to clear the top to open or close the doors on it. I'm cluttered too.

I had a similar anomaly recently but it wasn't hidden geometry. I closed the program and re-opened and it went away.

Great, thanks for the explanations. I'd love to have a go at making something like that. Maybe a bit ambitious seeing as how I don't have a workshop, if I want to make something I have to wait for good weather and work outside.
