Vector normal to the plane seems to simply be the first 3 elements of the 4 that denote a plane. Thanks everyone. CB.
I know I'll say "duh" when someone tells me the answer, but I need to know if a plane (section_plane, actually) is horizontal.
Working fine for me. My plugins still seem to work.

i'd read the notes if i could find them...
Here's where I found them:
http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=release_notes.cs&rd=1
But it doesn't show anything after 8M3 (5/23/2012).
Probably the result of dividing by "almost zero". Which in turn could result from a floating point roundoff error.
It seems what your after is simply the component instance's transformation property.
I've experimented with faster video cards, and it really doesn't make SU any faster. It might be because nvidia disables certain features in their "GeForce" "gaming" models. Their "CAD" models, which go under the "Quadro" brand use identical technology, but enable these features. I believe "Quadro" is Spanish for "costs four times as much for the same hardware". But I've never had a Quadro in my machine, so I can't give any first-hand advice.
I use this all the time. Thanks again Rick. By the way, SU8 seems to have fixed the problem that required a prompt between scenes. I can now save them all in one go without problems. CB.
