      L.VII.C,

      Your render are beautiful !! ๐Ÿ˜Ž I like your tabularium's texture !
I don't know how to do texture for the moment but i want to try to export my model in Zbrush.
      I don't know if it's possible.

It would be great to integrate all these models in a video game to walk through the forum ! ๐Ÿ‘

For my model, I studied very hard for a year to set my proportions and I think they are very realistic.

      Hi guys,

Here are some new images of my work.
What do you think about these proportions in general ? The columns are they too high ? ๐ŸŽ‰

      Beautiful render !
It's very sad that buildings so beautiful as this one have disappeared! Thank you for putting the characters to get an idea of the scale. ๐Ÿ‘

L.VII.C's temple is nice too but i'm very maniac so i want to build the same temple with real proportions. ๐Ÿ˜‰
With a render, his model is more beautiful than mine because the entablure is short. Mine is real but too massive.

Yes, I know. I modeled a maximum of detail because I want to import the model into Zbrush for transform reliefs in normal map ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Congratulations for the render, the pantheon is an beautiful building. I've already visited three times and I'm always fascinated.

      Hi everyone,

Here is a comparison between my work and L.VII.C.'s Vespasian temple.
I did not put the capitals on this image because they are not completed.

What do you think ? ๐Ÿ˜’

      Hi everyone,

I'm rendering with the demo of Twilight:

      http://www.twilightrender.com/

Today I worked on the proportions of the Corinthian columns but I am not satisfied with the result.
I finally chose Vignola base while keeping the height prescribed by Vitruvius for the capital.
I removed the bulge and I try to get the right height for the entire column.

I already posted my work here:

I tried to render L.VII.C's model with Twilight render.

Even without good proportions, is already beautiful!

I agree with you. Vitruvius should be used to understand some basic principles.

For example, for values of intercolumniation: Vitruvius gives us values such as 1.5 d (diameter) for Pycnostyle or 2 d for Systyle.

The architect is free to choose the value which is more harmonious. It can also make an average. This applies to the "square house" of the city of Nimes in France : The values of intercolumniation is an average between Pycnostyle and Systyle.

For column, I am guided by Vitruvius because Vignola's corinthian column seems disproportionate.
The capital is too high and the base too narrow. The height proposed by Vignola is also too high. (Vitruvius also said that for Pycnostyle the height of the column should be 10 d, it is also impossible).

I'll post more images later. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Hello,

I'm French and i studiying roman architecture since several months.
First, i congratulate you for your wonderful models !

I am fascinated by old architecture and I have already made a model of architectural complex of Pharaoh Sahure to Abusir. I also started to model Persepolis since winter 2008 but never finish.

Here are some pictures of my work :

      http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5766/complexedesahour33.jpg

      http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/4672/perspolis4.jpg

Your models are very interesting but do not have the right proportions. I have studied many texts and also Vitruvius. His formulas do not work for all but we can get some interesting values such as intercolumniation or height of columns depending on the type of building.

I set some rules for obtain a building with harmonious proportions. This one tries with the Temple of Vespasian :

      http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6557/templedevespasien5.jpg

You must first determine the proportions of columns and entablature.
The entablature of Vitruvius is not appropriate for a Roman temple. However, you can follow his instructions for the Corinthian column.

For the entablature, I advise you to refer to the Corinthian order of Vignola.
I do not find attractive method for determining the angle of the pediment or values stylobate and stairs.

Next, you must consider the values between the columns proposed by Vitruvius and height of columns that refers to each of them.
