      Gaieus,
      I would probably go smaller.
But it would be interesting to create 3 or 4 named textures from this one and change them subtly.....slightly different colour, scale and proportion, and apply them to different drawers.
      [see.....I said I was obsessive πŸ˜’ ]

ED. Actually, looking at it again, this texture is going to be too repetitive.......maybe try another ❓

      Hi Gaieus, Not Bad!
A couple of thoughts....the marble top looks a bit thin and I wonder if re-scaling the timber texture would help?
One thing you could try is to re-name the texture for each drawer so that they could be adjusted independently.

Thanks Guys for the positive comments.

Gaius, I have to say I can get pretty obssesive about plant placement. πŸ˜’

Kwistenbiebel, thanks for the imput. The light was bothering me......I was trying have some lighting in the Bali lamp and still have shadows from a high sun...and still manage the contrast from under the roof to outside. In this second image I have turned off the point light in the lamp and I think it works better. I still like the slightly moody effect in this second image even though I think it is a bit brighter than the first πŸ˜‰

Dylan, the paving is straight out of the SU box.....I think in SU6 under concrete/asphalt. It scales up nicely for 500x500mm pavers.

      Tom,
Your right this image has had the WC treatment....see, once again, the attached πŸ˜‰

      Ross,
Yep, I particularly liked the figures merging into the shadows.
They were always pretty low key in the original SU, but this effect in Kerkythea was unplanned but was a pleasant surprise.

And Craig, re that light. I am finding my Kerkythea renders are coming out a couple of gamma stops short of a sunny day......so I have been adding that warmer glow in PhotoImpact....my favourite image editing app.

    • Going through the bottom drawer

I came across one of my favourite models....done a few years ago, with a fair degree of difficulty for me at the time.

So after a bit of a touch-up I ran it through Kerkythea. Done without bump mapping and other esoteric effects....but good enough for my folio and maybe my website.

ED. Just in case somebody notices, I have updated this image with a little modification to the foreground planting.

I used SU2KT to export from SU and the XML file ended up a fairly impressive 250Mb.

And another big wrap for Jim Foltz' Mover rb. Just the right tool for doing subtle rotations and movements of individual plant components to give the image a more natural look.

      Thanks Shaun.
This particular model is an oldie I have been tarting up to put on my website.
The job has actually been built.
It was an interesting job...the Clients were newly arrived Vietnamese with virtually no English.
We communicated via translators [a different one every time] pointing at pictures and body gestures, nods and head shakes. In the end it was win/win all round. πŸ˜†

BTW if any Mods want to move this thread to the Gallery, please do.

    • RE: First Image

      Thats good news Coen!
Juju, these are taking about 25 min. to save via SU2KT and about 1hr. to render....which is about as long as I would like it to take to fit into my workflow. This is without bump mapping [still learning] and all the other tweaks which could blow out the time considerably. But for images to impress my Clients rather than my Rendering Peers πŸ˜„ its a pretty easy track.
My aging computer......2.6 P4, 1 Gig Ram, 128 average Nvidia card.

Thanks for the imput, guys re. perspective......the attached has been brought a bit more down to earth.

      Thanks Guys.
What's this about camera position ❗ ❗ ❓ ❓ .......I thought it would be obvious that this shot was taken from the penthouse of the five storey building across the road! πŸ˜›
Seriously, my emphasis is on the landscape rather than the architecture so more often than not I shoot from a bird's eye perspective.
From a Kerkythea purist's point of view this image is pretty average and there is a lot I have to learn about PR rendering. But as a fairly quick and simple post SU render, for presentation to a Client, it's not too bad.

[Just realised we have a proper galley now....Coen is moving fast]

I'm not sure have you feel about us posting images but if its OK maybe down the track we could have a gallery?

An old SU image rendered with Kerkythea. Still a lot of work to do on it...but hey, I'm still learning! πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Sketchup doesn't recognize click wheel zoom on new mouse????

After a lot of screwing around I found that 'middle button' solved the problem with my Logitech mouse.

BTW, I can recommend the Logitech VX Revolution for laptop use. Wireless, with a USB receiver that fits into the back of the mouse for travelling and a couple of extra thumb buttons that I find essential for AutoCad work.

[From memory, highlight the scroll button and then 'select function'.....a window with options appears with 'middle button' one of the options. all a bit counter intuitive, until you work it out]

    • RE: GeForce 8600GT display issues...

I'm most certainly not an expert when it comes to hardware issues but I like to just make a couple points.

I've been using SU for years and have never had AA turned on, for work or exporting.
And its been common wisdom that SU performance depends as much on processing power [and maybe RAM] as it does on the video card.
