I am also a woodworker and would like to use SketchyPhysics and SketchUp to "prototype" various designs.

I find that building a 3D item to an exact size and being able to place it exactly where I want is a royal pain. I'm probably missing some crucial information. How do you place and size items?

I'd love to see a 2D to 3D tool for creating individual items for assembly in SketchUp - even a text (XML) to SketchUp converter (which I'm willing to code if someone gives me the skp structure).

Among other things, I'm a professional content developer and it is my primary responsibility at my day job to build tutorials and other educational material. I'm willing to donate a bunch of hours to get a meaningful tutorial put together provided that I can set up some phone conversations/web meetings (I have the tools) to discuss.
