Hi All,
Firstly I would like to thank everyone for your continued interest in the dimensioning add-on.
To bring you up to date.....as it currently stands the SketchUp API does not provide enough access to dimension objects to facilitate the development of our application. Until recently I have been in discussions with the SketchUp folks about the possibility of gaining the required access. They have not been able to provide me with a time frame for doing so. When the opportunity becomes available we will develop it. I would ask that if it is of interest to you, drop SketchUp an email.
In the mean time please keep your suggestions coming and feel free to ask me any questions that might come to mind.
Thanks again,
Rick

Hi All,
I was relatively new to the other forums, so this will be more like my first new home. Looks great to me! I look forward to getting to know some of you folks.
Thanks Coen.

Hi all!
¿Do you know something new about that?
It seems so interesting...

We are just completing the final touches on the scope of the functionality. We should have an idea in a week or so as to when the add-on will be availble.
Thanks for the interest.

Rick

yes, the hide all dims would be important or just simply put all the dims on one layer... or beter yet allow us to decide what layer and how many...
looks like a nice script when you need beta let me know...
Kristoff,
You have hit on what seems to be a popular theme regarding the flexibility and control of the dimensions. We are working towards providing that level of control.
Thanks for the suggestion and the offer for testing (I may take you up on it).

Rick

Looks interesting ! I think we would really need a demo
to fully trial the functions. It crosses my mind that this might be useful in 2D SU
drawings (models) also.Mike
Hi Mike,
We are at the early stages of development so a demo is a little ways out. As for 2D....we orginally designed the functionality in 2D as an add-on to AutoCAD. That demo is at http://www.cadnomics.com. Sorry for my ignorance but is SU widely used for 2D?
Thanks for the comments.

Looks very very nice!
How much would this cost?
Gidon,
Thanks for the compliment.
Do you have any suggestions for the functionality? For example some have suggested the ability to lock selected dimensions.
As for the cost we are not sure yet, we are just concentrating on trying to get it done and get it right.
Thanks again,
Rick

Hello Rick,
Glad to see that you made it here. I'm sure you saved the feedback posted on the SketchUp Forums. Another feature comes to mind -- locked dimensions. In addition to being able to edit dimensions directly, I could set a flag (i.e., check a box) that would freeze that dimension until I later decided to unlock it. The lock would apply to Push-Pull as well as direct edit.

Hi Sam,
I was glad to see you here too!. Thanks for the additional comments.
Talk to you soon.
Rick
I am looking for feedback on functionality that we are developing as an add-on to SketchUp.
We are proposing that dimensions be added to a model as objects are drawn and that the dimensions can be edited by the user to modify the model. We feel that this is a very intuitive and easy way to ineract and develop a drawing.
Please visit http://www.cadnomics.com/3D.htm to view a brief demonstration of the concept that we are proposing.
We would greatly appreciate any feedback.
Regards,
Rick Haws
