Yes it does Kris - but you can't access all the tools as you can with google sketchup.

I make my living with sketchup - I started with V4 a couple of years ago.

the beauty of sketchup is that your client can download the free google version. I know of no other program that enables that yet as my clients are international it's a vital part of my business now.

I agree with Kris though - you need AutoCad for drafting. It's such a shame because a few simple additions to sketchup like dimension, line and text styles could eliminate that.

I've never seen it before Kris. But from the front page it says:

      Astana celebrates!
Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, celebrates its birthday this summer and a wide range of ambitious building projects are in full swing. 1,700 cranes are currently in operation on 650 separate sites in a city which less than a decade ago, had a population of only 280,000, and today boasts - 600,000. Building work in Astana is on an unprecedented scale; to date, investment totals an incredible KZT 1 trillion 500 billion – dwarfing current projects in Dubai, and the construction of Brasilia and Canberra.

      Canberra!! 8O

That 1.5 trillion Kazakhstan dollars equals US$12,342,631 according to this currency converter.

The Maori's were a Warrior Nation and the Haka was their battle cry. It was depicted in a Film called "Once We Were Warriors"

Hence the joke - "What do you call a Maori on Prosac? - "Once We Were Worriers"

      Hi juan.

So what is a plan view?

Here's Jamie_16.avi where we have progressed to.

My business is not about showing beautiful renditions about beautiful buildings, it's about what needs to be done within our limitations.

It's about creating a space where a recording engineer, such as my client, can record a band of drums and loud guitars etc, within a suburban community of McMansions without upsetting his family above or the neighbours.

It's about sound isolation and acoustics.

The control room space, i.e. the first space shown in the video, is where he will sit with all his expensive recording equipment and most importantly his speaker system from which all sound judgements are made. It must be acoustically correct.

Off that room are a series of rooms that are suited to individual instruments. One room has a "live reverberant sound" like the drum room in front of the control room, the other two are designed or guitar amps and singers. Each one designed for it's application.

His father is a builder and is following my designs, he's already acted upon recommendations I've made such as moving jack-posts etc, and will build the studio off the 3D Sketchup plans I provide.

It's a very different area from the general posts on this site, it's actually closer to Joe Wood's designs if anything. πŸ˜„

From my perspective I oggle at Ross's beautiful swimming pool, yet on the other hand I ask myself - what would that pool sound like?

I say it would have a reverberation time of around 4 -5 secs - if there were 20 old-timers and their minders in the room they would all be turning up their hearing aids because the acoustics of the room would not enhance their sound perspective. Whilst I can admire the space I see no attention to the acoustic of the space.

The other night I had dinner with my ex and my eldest daughter in a fine restuarant in North Sydney. We ended up shouting at each other because no one had considered the acoustic of the room we were in.

      that's my field.

      cheers

OK - I've slowed them down. The originals were at 3sec transition. The new ones are at 5 sec transition with a 1 sec pause.

I've replaced the original files with the new versions.

Here's a couple of videos of recording studios I'm designing.

The first is a home studio in the basement of a typical US McMansion.

      14 meg .avi file

the second is a Pro Studio in an industrial area in the US NE.

      20 meg .avi file

Thankyou FormFonts, your "people" are gaining star status - one client asked me why was HE sitting in that other guys studio!! πŸ˜„

flat on my back with the most lethal flu I've ever experienced. It started last saturday morning at 4am with a cough. I coughed continuously till wednesday. 😲

you could put a staircase up the side of the house with a red light at the top.

      That should attract some attention.
