    • RE: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600

Under XP SP2 the ATI Control Centre was reporting that there was 512mb of available memory to the graphics card.

I have since restored Vista to the laptop in a last ditch attempt to see if it will work better for what ever reason, sheer luck, etc. The graphics card now reports to having 1536mbs of memory available to it.

Google SketchUp in our models ranging from 3mbs to 14mbs in file size still stutter and jolt.

Further more the Laptop scored 4.7 out of 5 on the Vista Scoring system in Control Panel - so its a beasty Laptop with a crap graphics card????

    • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600

I am posting in the hope that someone somewhere out there may be able to shed some light on my problem.

I have a Brand new Toshiba Satelite Pro P200 with the following specs.

      Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0ghz)
      3 Gbs of Ram (2gb 1gb config)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 (256mb dedicated memory with 512mb share)
200GB Sata Hard Drive. DVD burner etc etc.

The Laptop is running Windows XP SP2 fully updated.

The ATI Card has full support for OpenGL 2.0 (SU needs 1.5)

Everything works sweet except when working and spinning models in sketchup the program reacts very slowly and depending on the site of the model can take up to 30 seconds to respond. I am running the most current drivers off the Toshiba Website. I have tried 3rd Party drivers and even modified the AMD ATI desktop drivers to run on the laptop with no change or noticeable improvement to sketch up performace.

Has anyone had a similar problem. I usually use nVidia Graphics Cards but due to the need for Windows XP on our network, 17 inch monitor required it left me with a laptop with an ATI Graphics card. Can this be fixed, do i rip out the ATI gcard and put in an nVidia?
