I work with schools in the UK a lot and there was a need for schools to use all the laser cutters and flat bed routers with 3D graphics, so me and my friend wrote CadFace. It only does one thing, but it does it very well. You select a SINGLE flat face in Sketchup, click the CadFace button and it saves a DXF file into the same directopry and same name as the Sketchup model which you can open in any cad package, fully scaled. We know there are plug ins that and workarounds that achieve this if you want to fiddle around, but CadFace is aimed at the over worked teacher who wants a one button solution with no chance of students losing their work or saving it in the wrong place! In Education, when you have 30 students using Sketchup, and only 2D Cutters to make things with, CadFace rocks. Even better, there are 50 free resources at http://www.sketchupsuite.com including sample files, example output, demo films and teachers notes for 6 full projects. There is also a demo version which works for any flat face up to 12 sides (full version also available). Its all free, all available now so have a go and send us some feedback!
