Kristoff - did you see the movie 'Supersize Me'? If not rent the dvd.

Before I moved to the country and started working from home I had an office job. Almost next door to my office was an A&W fast food restaurant. I got in the bad habit of eating there almost daily. Between that and gradually drinking more booze, that's probably why I ended up gaining about 65 pounds more than I should have. Be careful with the fast food. Even if you are thin now, with that kind of food in your diet it will grab hold of you and not let go. It can take years but it will happen. I slowly gained that 65 extra pounds over a period of 20 adult years.

      Regards, Ross

I've stopped eating fast food, but unfortunately I can't shake the delivered pizza habit just yet.

for breakfast, I'm not much of a morning person. But I do eat organic Flax cereal every once in a while, that stuff is better than any powerbar or processed food you'll ever find for energy.

Flax oatmeal & a bagel shmeared with homemade yogurt cheese... now that's some good stuff. That tang will wake you up better than coffee (which is still a true love of mine).

I saw that movie 3 years ago, then bought his book and read it. There is much more information in the book than could have been placed in the movie.
To date I have eaten at McDonalds twice since that movie. Both times my daughter put on her crocodile tears and I caved.
However it did not steer me away from Taco Bell... oh the horror.

As for breakfast, I have started eating Kashi cereal with soy milk. And a small glass of juice.

Edit: I just noticed, this is #100 on the postings for me. I need to get back to work.

yeah I saw his propaganda... I have eaten fast food all my life... and I've stayed pretty fit... what he neglects to say in his movies is Moderation is the key to everything...

anyone who eats 5000 calories a day and does not exercise will gain weight...

                  Ross,
Breakfast for me starts with a small bowl of grapefruit, followed by porridge. Six tablespoons of porridge mixed with milk to a creamy consistency. Cooked in the microwave for 1min 10sec, removed stirred and replaced and cooked for 10sec spells until it is thick and creamy. I eat this with an apple.
I probably have that around 8am and it keeps me going until around 2.30-3pm when we have our main meal of the day.

Evening meal is just a carton of cottage cheese flavoured with chives and onion.

After years of eating well and truly too much I am now back to the weight that I was probably in my mid twenties. What I love about the whole thing is that I now have so much energy to burn, not surprising when I was previously carrying around probably 28lbs too much. Have I written 28lbs. Well sometimes a lot more than that.

It was Paul McKenna’s book ‘I can make you thin’ that started me on the road to healthy eating. I even took up cooking and share that with my better half. Heck was she happy! Chicken and veg curry is one of her favourites.

                  regards

                  Alan

                      Ross,

My wife makes homemade yogurt with local organic milk, then puts it in a yogurt cheesemaker and lets it drain for two days to get out as much whey as possible. We're experimenting with various mix-ins like honey or herbs, because homemade yogurt is WAY more sour than the commercial stuff. It spreads like cream cheese, and is obviously way better for you. Lasts about two weeks, too.

I think this link will get you to the yogurt maker:
                      http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/lan ... pe=product

Sure, it's a unitasker, but it's set and forget so who can argue? We buy the yogurt culture from the same mfr. I'll see if my wife knows where we bought the cheesemaker. You can make the cheese with the cloth bag included with the yogurt maker, but it's a lot of mess.

                      Dave

A banana...that's it. My wife makes me have a croissant every Sunday morning, to keep her company. Those things were never meant to be eaten indoors; I end up with pastry flakes all over the dining room.
