This guy is awsome! He decided to reconstruct the city centre of the ancient Rome. Have a look at this thread here from the "Old Forums"!

Γ³_O all I can say is .... wow.

A few months back I donated a couple of structures to Pedro's project: the Forum of Trajan and the Markets of Trajan, which happen to have been my very first SketchUp project with SU version 1. Interestingly enough, I was contacted today through the nearly defunct Google SketchUp Pro User Forums by a classical historian at Oxford who is hoping to use Pedro's and my models to help him with an article on the Trajanic monuments. I gave Matthew Nicholls, the historian, the contact emails I had for Pedro (which seem to be out of date).
Anyway, if you're reading this, Pedro, and you haven't heard from Matthew, drop me a personal message so I can put you in touch with him.

It's interesting how many people turn to Roman stuff. One of my early projects was the Baalbek complex in Syria. Here's a WIP off the old forum.

Well, I "need" to deal with stuff like this "by profession" - like this one:
So I'm always interested in stuff like this and Pedro's work has just impressed me big time!
BTW the Baalbek one is also really nice - though haven't "tried" to reconstruct anything of it, I used to deal with it when I taught art history.

Talent like this makes me sick - stop it immediately!

LOL - absolutely fantastic guys.
I love 3D historical reconstructions - especially of the ancient world when only ruins remain (or sometimes nothing at all). I love history and I think 3D forensic architecture like this really brings the subject to life...
Funnily enough, one of the reasons I got into SketchUp is I had the idea to re-create our local castle. The castle is a partial ruin (destroyed during the English Civil war), and every time I visited I would think 'I wonder what it looked like inside when it was complete?'
I am just about at the level of SketchUp skill where I think I can do this project justice - it's taken me a while to get here, so I REALLY admire work on teh ancient Rome project.
Kudos to you guys!
oh - and PS - Lewis, did you used to play keyboard for a 70s British band called 'Sparks'?

I hope not. I'm almost certain I would remember that.

Pretty darn nice work.
I wonder how long it took him to build it.
That was a joke.
