Ok. Sorry I have erased my previous post. GIANNIS (it is correct nick) is looking for good deal on MAC.
Someone generous has donated almost half of necessary sum. KT on Mac, I believe will be available quite soon.

        gaieus,

I read that plead from tomasz, then visited their site and made a donation to them (no, I am not the generous one who donated half the amount needed to buy the mac, although I wish I could have done that). a modest one, to be sure, but made with all my heart.

giannis dropped me a line and I wished him luck. so now it seems to be a matter of time before the mac version of kerky comes to light.

        regards.

          Tomasz,

I am realy sorry for not being thorough enough to see abou his name and just writing what I remembered (obviously wrong). I corrected it though in my posts.
anyway, good news and (as a "beginner" in Kerky) the best is that there will be more contributions from those using MAC and there will be more to learn from.

I'm one of those who are, too waiting for the mac version. I use KT at work, but my time available to work with it is minimal. The mac version will enable me to use it at home. This is great news that it will soon be available!

Gaieus, your renders are a nice beginning. It's really tough to get beyond the "beginners" stage and make them really sing. I'm convinced it has half to do with material settings and creation and half to do with entourage that puts the model into a realistic setting.

              Michael, thanks...
The problem is that during the week (in my office) I can't really devote enough time to experiment and all I learn is at the week-ends. Slow curve but I'm enjoying it.

I don't want to start a new thread for this for I've posted the model itself, too, in the MCS forum. But this is still a render, so I juast add it to my existing topic "some basic..."

                  Hi Gaieus, Not Bad!
A couple of thoughts....the marble top looks a bit thin and I wonder if re-scaling the timber texture would help?
One thing you could try is to re-name the texture for each drawer so that they could be adjusted independently.

                    Thanks Stu,

Actually I have a somewhat similar one at home and its marble top is about 2 cm thick - that's why I made this one 2 cms as well.
An which way dou you mean to rescale the wood texture? Smaller or bigger? (I imported it and was scaling up and down to find out how it would look the best though). Actually I'm not the best in texturing - I'm usually more interested in the construction part of it...

                      Gaieus,
                      I would probably go smaller.
But it would be interesting to create 3 or 4 named textures from this one and change them subtly.....slightly different colour, scale and proportion, and apply them to different drawers.
                      [see.....I said I was obsessive πŸ˜’ ]

ED. Actually, looking at it again, this texture is going to be too repetitive.......maybe try another ❓

Stu, I see your point but these chests do actually look like this with the texture. they are thin layers of wood and it does repeat since they lay these layers next to each other - and keep the repetition on the drawers, too.

But yes, I can try with some other textures, too and maybe will play around a little bit with different effects.

Thanks for the comments anyway πŸ˜„
