Blocks from ADT to SU?
-
Is there a way to create window and door "blocks" in ADT so that when a model is imported in SU from ADT that all the similar windows import as components in SU?
Thanks for any help!

Not that I know of Susan, although I only got ADT (well I have ACAD Architecture 2008) last week.
I did try but could not get it to do what you ask.I would'nt have thought it was possible, but if someone knows otherwise, please let us know!

I don't know if it still works, but the other way round went beautifully when I last tried the SU/ADT plugin. SU components imported beautifully into ADT as doors and windows. The same applied to the Archicad plugin when I last tried it - I don't know if it works with the latest versions. Other that SU arcs remain facetted in the BIM packages, I think that SU could be a great tool for creating custom doors and windows for ADT and Archicad, as I find the tools available in these for this purpose to be quite clumsy.
The ADT to SU way is not as easy, as the model has to be exploded in ADT in order to make the ADT objects to be importable to SU, and sadly this reduces them to simple faces.

Anssi, I don't have to export when bringing a model into SU. I am using ADT 2004, for some reason when you import into SU it would go all skiewampus (that is the technical term) Don't know where I found this work around, but here it goes, hope you can understand it.....
In ADT, set view to "top view"
switch to "front view"
back to "top view"
then click the "undo" arrow
then file, export to AutoCAD 2000
open SU import model and everything should be fine
don't forget the OPTIONS button for settingsThanks for replying. I'll keep my ears out and let you know if I find anything.
