Here is a coffee table I did for my house a few years ago. Real simple design. The glass dictated the size however.

I had a desk top (old door) with a large piece of glass on it. When I did not need the desk top anymore I decided to make a large coffee table for our house. It has been used more for a play table for my daugter than a true coffee table, as you can see by the crayons and Barbie.

I used scrap that I had in my shop/garage. The side rails are mahogony, end rails poplar and "legs" Pine 2x's with a cherry accent. Talk about putting it to good use.

Anyway, I hope someone can use it. Might want to change the colors around though ๐Ÿ˜„

            Nice one, Eric!
It never ceases to amaze me how many woodworkers there are in the SU community.

If you don't know where you're going, you're never going to get there.

Daniel, that does not compare to the amount of chocolate milk my daughter has spilled on it. And it never fails to seep under the glass when she does. Design flaw or not โ“

                  beautiful woodwork!

I'm no carpenter and looking to undertake a very similar project. I've got an old oak desk that was ruined in a moving accident (think flying out of the back of a pickup and landing all over the CANUSA highway...) but the table part is still relatively okay. Your table is a real inspiration for design! I love how you've done the legs, they are beautiful. I'll have to show my project step-by-step so you woodworkers here can give me some good critiques on my amateur work!

                  great table!

I look forward to it Will03. Any chance we could get an avatar from you? Where are you from? Is the CANUSA highway in Canada?

lol, i like my internet anonymity...

                      I'm from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

the CANUSA highway (unless I'm mistaken) is the #95 in the USA and the #2 (recently renamed to the Queen Elizabeth 2) in Canada. Basically the highway goes from Mexico to the North West Territories, its pretty busy, and as close as you can get to a freeway in Alberta.
