Black screen printing problem (its back!)
-
Hello,
On my laptop (Windows XP SP2, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, Sketchup 6
Pro), if I turn on Hardware Acceleration, I get the black screen
printing problem. This, for those who have never experienced it, means any attempt to export to jpeg, print to a printer or to PDF ends up with a black rectangle. Also, most
thumbnails (components / style icons) also go black within Sketchup. So I have to keep Hardware Acceleration off, much to the detriment of productivity...
I have the latest graphic card drivers, by the way...Any ideas as to why? Or what I can do?
any help or pointers appreciated.

Ronan,
Did you try the other options on the Preferences>OpenGL window? My old ATI card will work with Hardware Acceleration on, but I have to turn Fast Feedback off.
You might still try downloading and updating the display driver. Laptop display drivers may be available only through the laptop manufacturer's website, but I would try ATI too.
Just dumb suggestions

Thanks Anssi for your suggestions, but no, Fast Feedback on/off doesn't make any difference... I'll now hunt for an updated version of my driver throu Sony Vaio, as ATI can't help.
For those who use the Google Group Sketchup forum, a similar thread has appeared there as well (apart from mine!).
I wonder if the latest SU build + the latest Windows updates = new printing problems ? -
here's a topic in the newbie forum, seems to be the same problem. maybe this would also solve your problem?

Thanks Eeva for this. I hadn't seen the newbie thread.
Basically its a 'Hardware Acceleration' issue with my particular laptop/video card combination.
I've had a reply from someone at Google: see this thread for their answerhttp://groups.google.com/group/Sketchup-Pro/browse_thread/thread/7aa2a4dd5ef40190#17aa3783531eb585
