Hello guys
Since the terrible decision made by Google to move the groups and to abandon the old forum
I did not spend much time with Sketchup. I am very glad to see that this forum is taking it place
and the community still survives and keep the spirit.Soon a major release of Kerkythea will be available with incredible new features. We spend many month testing and debating the new features which certainly will make Kerkythea the most powerful freeware render engine available. Tomasz also revised the SU2KT exported which will bring incredible integration to SU and many more features. Finaly a Mac version of KT will also be available with the forthcoming release.
I know that Frederick and Tomasz can take care of most of your KT question here but just in case
you can also visit the official KT site. Thanks

I am not sure who knows who in the world of CG, however I am sure that the 'code guy' at Kerky knows the 'code guy' at Podium, so they should talk as Podium has just overcome the face thing, without reversing faces the render engine will render the front face regardless which way it faces.
I am sure it's a geeky code thing...but it makes life so much easier.
KT is a cool looking app...I will wait for new upgrade and give it a whirl. -
Hello Clipi,
Nice to see you here
I intend to update my exporter to Pov-Ray for V6, but I don't know if anyone is interested. Kerkythea is much user-friendly than POV...(Didier Bur)
-
Hello Didier..
I can give you a hand testing SU to POV for old time sake..
but as you know I got involved more and more into KT development. As you
know KT is being updated so frequently with so many features. I wish we could get to see you there more often. Right now we are thinking in IES support for the next release...Thanks.

It will happen in SU2KT 2.3, which will be available soon, as long as only one face will be painted.

Tomasz,
You mean, for instance, that if I have a single face as a window, I can only paint one side (face) of it with a transparent colour and it will apply from both sides in Kerky? i.e. I shouldn't paint the other side?
-
Yep. It will be no difference if you will paint front or back. It is really helpful especially when talking about transparent faces.

Cool. Transpaernt faces bugged me all the time (I always model everything else with double faces/thickness anyway...)
Looking forwart to it! -
Well, I pretty much live at Kerkythea's forum now...(much to their dismay) but try to visit here as often as I can... don't have much time
I can tell you, the next release of KT will blow your socks off! It has mine... I don't even bother putting them on any more... but I digress.
Tomasz's newest exporter for SU2KT is SU2KT on STEROIDS. He will have to go into hiding from the IOC after they see his coding prowess.
I thought SU2KT was easy to use before, but now I just shake my head... can't believe it's all free.
-
Fletch, my heart just skipped a beat whilst reading your post. I guess its true what my GF says then, I'm a geek.
-
I hope Fletch is not exaggerating and you will find new features in SU2KT helpful.
I will try to issue it ca. 30 September.Tomasz
-
well, juju? what do you say, did I exaggerate? lemme see what you're rendering, please!
-
I'll post something once I think it won't embarress me on these fora - still getting to grips with KT, mostly due to the lack of spare time and current PC power (or lack thereof - should have a new machine in a matter of days though).
But I have installed the new version of KT and quite like it!
-
have recently discovered KT and I'm still learning how to use all of its settings. So far I have been able to render a few things and love the results. Here is a sample of what I've done so far and if the KT gurus can give me some pointers based on what you see...things I should do, I would appriciate it.
Thank You

It's not that I see myself as a KT guru, but I suggest that you use a HDRI probe for a scene like this...
At the KT Forum you can find many useful tips and tricks related to this...
Take a look at some of these examples...
Electrical-Relay
tb-303 and a glass
dualshock2
new iMacHope this helps!?

Hi Danny - great start!
You have 2 out of a possible score of 4. You have a good model, and you've got a great render engine. Now you need to work on lighting and materials. Kim's suggestion to use an HDR is a great suggestion... or you can d/l this perfect light studio all set up for you for lighting an object like this perfectly. Open it in SU, import your model, and place it on the stage, apply a chrome material from the KT's download section metals collection, and render with PM Med+AA or High +AA preset.
Or there's this studio HDRyou can place in KT in the spherical sky slot created by Alex.
keep posting!

Big Mahalo Frederik and Fletch,
As I said I'm still learning how to use this great rendering program so please forgive me for asking a few noobie questions like, where do I find HDRI settings? Their are so many that I'm still finding out how each of them applies to a rendered piece.
Those are great exsamples Frederik I hope someday I can produce masterpieces like that.
I will try those setting Fletch and try that 3LightStageStudio. Hope to be half the renders you guys are, thank you very much for you help and if you have any other things to point out please do so.

Hi Danny, simply go to http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla and download the globals I made with HDRIs already loaded. then you don't have to worry about any settings
-
Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you sir, I'll try them out...this looks great.
