Welding Symbols
-
Hi
I am writing to inquire if anyone has the ability to develop a SketchUp extension for weld symbols.
We frequently use SketchUp for our shop drawings and make 2D scans. It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to plug weld symbols—such as stitch welds or specific weld thicknesses requested by our engineers—directly into the model.
Additionally, when we import point cloud scans from our TX8 as E57 files, it would be beneficial to show architects the specific locations of weld call-outs and how we have been instructed to join materials.
Please let me know if this is something that can be developed or if a similar tool already exists.
Best regards,
Sean Geisler

are you using Layout for the drawings? if so, it might make sense to just create a scrapbook with weld symbols you can quickly drag onto the drawing, then populate any text sections or have auto-text if it makes sense.
basically start with say a dozen symbols you commonly expect to use, then update the scrapbook as you go along and add the other symbols you use.
