Is this a good computer for SUp?
-
I need a new desktop, and I've just started looking even though I have no idea what I need!
along comes my cable provider with some refurbished computer deals, for very cheap!
Are either of these any good for SUp? Keep in mind I don't do any rendering and my models are pretty small. What do you say? If neither are good I can afford a better one for around $1,500.#1- $25

I do not think those specs will be ok. Since you are using d5 I would recommend at least 16GB of Ram, 32 is better You did not mention a graphics card, which is the most important part when you are rendering and you should have at least 8GB of V ram.
-
For $1500 US you could get a new computer that would be great for SU prices, for GPU's and CPU' have plummeted. 2.8+ GHz Intel processor 8GB+ RAM 700MB of available hard-disk space At least 1GB of hard disk space.
-
Ouuu that sounds great Liam, could you help me find one??
-
I would be happy to assist Gus. Can you give me a couple of links to a US computer sites? I am in Australia
-
I do not think finding a good computer for your budget will be very hard.

and Dell https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/sc/desktops

I already have a nice monitor!
looking around there are some for a lot less then $1,500! Remember I don't need anything too fancy, really appreciate this Liam!
-
I sent you a link that one would b fine. I am assuming you have no plans to render
-
No I don't do any rendering.
-
wow not even $500! Why did I wait so long! This looks good but what do I know!
-
I would consider getting a second monitor.
-
Hey Liam I have another favor to ask. That one you linked is good enough you said but I can afford $1,000 for this. Can you find me a better one? Or is that one good enough?
foe some reason $500 sounds too cheap but what do I know.
-
I'd start here Joe. I wish it had a 1 TB hard drive but it might be good enough with 512 GB.

Darn Glenn that one's out of stock, what do you guys think about this one, it has a NVidia card is all I can say about it, 1 Tb HD, and 32gb ram
-
Wow, that sold out fast. That Dell at Amazon will work just fine but for same $$ you can get a 13th gen i7
-
Is that one better then this one Glenn??

-
so what does everyone say, get the one Glenn last linked or keep the one I ordered??
-
For the same $$ the one I listed is better. How much better?

Considerably better in my opinion, for the same $$.
-
Right on Glenn thanks for the good advice and insight!

Best of luck with which ever decision you go with. I just bought a new Dell XPS 8950 for work and I love it! Mine was a bit over $3k but it has to last for 4-5 years. It runs all my applications with ease. Specs are listed under my posts.
