Not specifically a vise for woodworking, this one is intended to be used on a drill press. There's a clamp (still to be modeled) that mounts at the tail end of the smooth rod to attach it to the D.P. table.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. The original is made out of steel but I was wondering if one with wooden jaws might be sufficient in my shop. A foot of 1/2-10 Acme rod would be less than $6 and you could use a square or hex nut in the moving jaw.

Screen Shot 2019-10-03 at 11.01.59 AM.pngPen-turners use a vise like this to drill a blank for a brass tube. The jaws have notches similar to the vise you modeled. Yours in wood would cost about ten bucks. This one is $55. I know which one I'd choose.

              Is that little vise self-centering?

I guess the one I modeled would work well for pen blanks and it would be pretty cheap to make.
