you may want use the Finder to search for files of the convention: "<filename>~.skp"

Can you imagine after so many years (and not dumping any old files) how many files that will call up?

Sorting by Date should resolve this... using the concerning <filename> instead of a wildcard shoud lead to significant less results.

Thanks. I was hoping someone knew this mystery. Can you imagine after so many years (and not dumping any old files) how many files that will call up? But your comment is helpful because I wouldn't have known that they are "~" files and not "Autosave" or .skb , because when one chooses to restore from the dialog they may come up with the same name as the original file.So far I have had SketchUp 2019 provide recovered files with "~" and without. No "Autosave" so far. And the "recovered" file that I see does not show by name search in the finder.

In short, I'm getting various results with "recovered" files. I'm thinking it's not a simple answer.

Yes thanks. That was in response to my question there. I was going to copy that here. This is why the files cannot be found with a search. The content of that folder is hidden from the user. Why put the recoverd files there? It's clear the recovered files are NOT the "newer" files as Autosave was. You can move the folder to the sidebar and access it when you need to, because what you need to do is throw them away or, while old, they'll keep being offered when you open the newer files.

if the need for searching all files incl. the hidden ones rises again, the free 'EasyFind' should do.

I have EasyFind. I'll check out if it sees them.
