Lost thumbnails in windows 10?

Hey y'all- I wonder if anyone else has recently lost the ability to see their skp thumbnails in Windows File Explorer? I run Sketchup 15, Windows 10 ver. 1809 . I imagine it's due to a recent Windows update, as until recently I had no problem viewing them. Strangely, the skb (backup) files still show (though I haven't got many of them saved on my computer as I usually delete them when I know I'm done with a project). Other file types, pdf, jpeg, etc., all show normally. Even if I view files from within Sketchup (File/Open, the thumbnails don't show.
Alternatively, are there any decent, safe, free thumbnail generators which are recommended?
