Latest table commission
-
Hey y'all- Wanted to share my latest piece. A hall table (though it will live in the great room of a home here in Santa Fe). Made from fabulously curly cherry and birds' eye maple. Features angled, tapered sides (joined with maple splines), a bent laminated stretcher, and a tapered top ("borrowed" from Michael Fortune). I'm pleased with the result, and as usual, SketchUp was very helpful laying out fussy joinery, as well as many iterations during the design process. Comments welcome. Thanks,
Michael

What is the top “floating” on......looks like there are metal pins.....but cannot tell for certain.C

thanks-good eyes. in the center, the top is doweled to the "box" that contains the drawer, and on the outside there are 4 steel pins. Getting it all to line up was a bit nerve wracking when it came time to glue up, but it all worked out.
