do you want to open as read only?

I've gotten this twice today opening two different models, and there aren't any other users here. What could be going on? This is SUp 2015 I'm using.

There was a Bug in 2015 that would give you this error if you double clicked to open a file in explorer with the preview pane open.
Does that sound like what you are doing?

hhmmm, each time I was in that projects folder, and clicked the skp file once like I always do. This has happened before, maybe a couple of times but months or longer ago, today I had two do it. Been using 2015 for a couple of years now I think.

Generally speaking clicking once when in a folder won't open the file, that only selects it. You may be double clicking without thinking. Or you have used Open, navigated to the folder and then only need to click once.

But more to the point, do you have the preview pane open? Does it happen if you create a shortcut from the file to your desktop and double click that to open.
There were various workarounds, closing the Preview Pane, making shortcuts, opening from the file menu etc
But the most effective fix was to update to a newer version.

All this may or may not be what has caused your issue, it's just what I remember from back then.

No I click just once to open all files,

not sure what the preview pane is Box, I'm in a folder like this and click to open the skp?

Ok, that is a setting I had forgotten about, you can choose in folder options to make it single click to open.
The preview pane is a view option, that will show you a preview of the file in a separate box within the folder without opening it, this may not me available when you have it set to single click.

To be honest, unless it becomes an issue with it happening all the time and not letting you save, I'd tend to ignore it and just use Save as on the odd occasion that it happens.

Yeah let's hope it doesn't become an issue, I've never seen a preview pane I don't think.
