I seem to be getting a grey banding border on my perspective layouts
Any ideas how to remove it

Do you have Vray installed? This looks like something that Vray has been known to do in Sketchup. Do you see the same gray bars in image exports from SketchUp?

Only a guess, then. Try resetting the camera in Advanced Camera Tools.
