Convert image to halftoned triangular perforation ??
-
Hi everyone, Im faced with a challenge of creating something like the image...
a halftone design on perforated panels...
Creating it in Sketchup should be very easy.. But making the vector from the image is a challenge..
I cant generate this vector from my image...Ive tried looking for softwares that can do that but most that i tried cant do this exact thing.. Would truly appreciate if anyone can help...or suggest a solution...

... the free tool Inkscape could probably do a good part of the job? It´s tracing tool is not too bad.
maybe you can get the desired shapes this way to fill these shapes with your triangulated pattern then. - The now created result(s) should provide a good basis for a final second vectorization ? ...

I found one good site that makes halftone vectors of images.. I just dont see the triangular perforation pattern option.. and they come with watermark in the output...but works well...
Once i got the image halftoned, then vectorization should be an easy job
BTW, I failed to mention the above is the famous DGJ+NAU’s bank building for Raiffeisen in Zurich...not my project...

just an other video link which seems to be very close to what you (we) are looking for
Up from minute 4 it is getting interesting because the tutorial-presenter is creating his own custom pattern obviously with ease I hope to find the time to test this procedure soon and if i succeed i will report here also -

Thanks there Hornoxx.. Really useful.. I havent tried inkscape, Now for sure I will..
I also found a quick dedicated app for this purpose which is very easy to use.. its called halftoner from
http://jasondorie.com/page_cnc.html. This is mainly used for CNC pattern production which generates high res image or vector (dxf)
I was able to generate this image of my city's skyline..
