Any way to properly import UV-mapped OBJ in SketchUp?
-
I need to import a model downloaded from turbosquid (i have it as 3ds and obj - both uv-mapped). I tried TIG's OBJ importer, but it won't keep the uv-mapping. The 3DS kept uv-mapping, but had some problems with import (parts of model missing).
Any suggestion appreciated.
Thanks. -
Have you tried triangulating it?

Triangulate what? I need to IMPORT it in SketchUp. But once is in, with the textures on, the UV mapping is random, not properly imported.

I have not used this, but understand it provides a good solution:

Sorry, I was under the impression Sketchup would also triangulate on import because I thought I did it once, but I used blender first, triangulated and then exported to obj again (but could be dae or 3ds) and then into sketchup.
It's not that hard.
There is another free OBJ importer that is from quad tools. It becomes available directly on sketchup file>import options and it never failed for me, but I used it only seldomly.
