Wish list for Sketchup 2018
-
David, Nige and I were just discussing this issue of stereoscopic 2D images and animations.
Trying to find a solution (simple) that allows to export a spherical 360Β° 2D images for viewing with original SketchUp model style from scene camera (to play in comparison to the Thea 360Β° spherical render)... should be possible. But, as this comes up today, I'm surprised this has not already been added. So, yes... please... add an export 2D image option for being able to produce natively from SketchUP a spherical image that could match (even with resolution) the rendered output. -
@ AlgerianoTNT
I never heard of that plugin before.
Is it available in english?
Is it free? -
I wish the bounding boxes could be blue for groups and red for components.

Recycle bin in Sketchup Layout (in Scrapbooks) in Default Tray.
"To get rid of" and "to bring back" scrapbooks,...Folder tree Plugins in Sketchup Default Tray.

Wondering why Sketchup's "Send to LayOut" is not exporting the drawing's XYZ = 0;0;0 to the middle of the page. It would be much appreciated, especially after using Chris Fulmer's great plugin: Center on Origin.
It would be even better when we could choose the XYZ-coordinates to export to the middle of the page in LayOut.I don't know if I explained it properly... in Dutch it would be easier.
-
The sticky nature of LayOut's labels is a source of frustration. Wish we could copy and paste them where the cursor is set (like in SKP) rather than zoom way in to be able to grab it by the neck and hopscotch it over with the Ctrl key. I say 'hopscotch' vs.'drag' since the canvas doesn't scroll when you get near its edge.
NOTE - the issue is especially problematic when labels have short leaders. -
If i set some measurements it would be great if they would be automatically set to a new layer "measurement"
Good day to anybody

Since many Toolbar titles are too long to be displayed in their Titlebar, allow a right-click on the Titlebar to display the full title besides the cursor.

I wish for sketchup / layout to have better vector output for construction docs. Skalp is great but the raster infill to walls doesn't print well unless on high output. Something like skalp incorporated into SKP/Layout with vector infill would be a step closer for me to stop paying damn Autodesk subscriptions for revit and autocad.
I really like the way visualarq for Rhino produces a 2d flat section or plan representation for vector output that is automatically updated when amended. Something like this would for me anyway be extremely helpful. -
Give the ability to enter Latitude and Longitude coordinates using the same formats found in Google Earth.

It would be nice to be able to save the position of a watermark between scenes.
If you place a watermark as positioned on screen you choose where it goes. Sometimes the content of a scene will interfere with the company logo. I then have to re-position it on screen. Saving the position from scene to scene would be great.

I often have multiple SU sessions open at the same time. It's almost impossible to know which "Default Tray" goes with a given instance. Can the file name be added to the Default Tray top bar? Not the whole path, just the file name.
-
The toolbar that displays iso, left, right, front and back views should have the graphics replaced by the verbiage. Getting tired of mousing over some of these icons to seee what they represent.
-
I wish Layout was smart enough to know that I invariably want to save a file with the same name as the Skp.
-
I wish a table in s a SU would show the LO files it is linked in, and you could just click to open them, like you can open the SU file from LO.
-
-
I wish the layers I've set up in SU (as per the pages visibility setup) would translate verbatim to LO, which then would be able to export those (together with the additional ones created in LO) to DWG/DXF, ending up with a DWG/DXF like we're used to in the construction industry. This would probably mean a better layer manager in LO as well.
-
I wish that LO would import DWG/DXF, without losing any information, so I can do overlays and coordinate.
-
I wish these would happen before I have to renew my maintenance and support, yet again, towards the end of November.

Most of my wishes are repeated every year. and i repeat again:
- MULTIPLE VIEWPORT
- every serious modeler (at least for most 3d platform) use multi-viewport. It is a feature that is essential to most 3d package . Hopefully we get an extra window that can be assigned left, right, top etc.
-
QUADs
I hope there's a quad-mode feature that can be turned on that will prevent triangulation when modifying quad geometries. I hope to really be able to work in quads without any complication. -
More solid all-in-one UVW, UNWRAPPING & TEXTURE BAKING solution all within SU.

I would like the Windows version to have 2 or more files open at once - I gather the Mac version already has this feature.
see if this works , if I try and move it I PROBARBLY loose it ,,my relavent post is in DEVELOPERS FORUM headed DOC MULTIPLE MODELS the NEW (full) pic did not upload and I am short of line time from Jon
I would try ,,cross reference organiser tho 14 day trial would not load ,,probarbly more than a single user needs,, I still work with my collage A3 drawing board , and can often have many drawings to hand,, multiple SU opened has no flow ,,so here is an idea of how it could possibly work ,if one of those those magic programmer,s "clock it" Jon ,,,
docked models could have a user default size and window position so swapping is immediate ,,successive models ,,the same,, to unclutter the view ,floating model commands ,use the main toolbar choices,,>>> cliq M-doc,, > open doc models folder ( same as model folder) select 1 or more models > cliq open ,,this then loads all reference models needed to M-doc > float over doc to select,> this and a few more intracuss,s er might create a work flow JON ,,trying,,
