@ piping guy, without the Spacebar for 'Select Tool' as the default behaviour, my modelling would slow to a crawl...

Me too, but if it could be configured by user both could set it up as wished.
I don't understand why some commands are hard built into some keys...

without the hard coded defaults they can't appear in menus or Help files...
you would also need to set all of them from scratch...
you can change any of the SU ones [on a mac] if you think the choice of key is illogical...

You're right!
What a Duh moment from me!
Somehow I was under the impression that Sketchup had some hardcoded keys that you couldn't change ever. Like "M" for the move tool. But that's not true, of course, I changed many of them myself.
What was I thinking?
I'm almost sure I had a key that I wanted to change but could not... maybe it was another software!

- Possibility to hide scenes in the toolbar (checkmark icon above "include in animation" in scenes-tab in default tray?)
- Possibility to put (less used) plugins (+ icons) in a library folder in the default tray

And be able to group them... Scene Groups and ability for users to define where the plugins show up, overriding the defaults.

Blender/Cycles render engine + node wrangler/ in Sketchup! this is sound like Christmas...
-
bigger close-out button for model info box.

Please add Material NAMES in the materials list!!! Now you've to hoover over to see its name. I can't believe that they still haven't done so.
-
A choice for non-instantaneous transitions when toggling between camera views would be good. (just like the adjustable scene transitions)
-
Wish for the ability to automatically re-select previous selection set.
-
Ability to snap to an inference when using the move tool to extend or retract the end of a cylinder. Currently, one needs to punch the appropriate arrow key, or hold the shift key, to make this work.
-
I wish any contents contained within a group or component's instance field can be automatically omitted as an option when exporting a model in 3D form to AutoCAD. Otherwise, they become displayed as text objects that are not easily erased.
-
I've been saying this since version 5. It would be nice to have control of visibility nested components and groups so I can alter a component and see the just next nest level up rather than all or nothing.
but. . .maybe I'm the only one.

Have default template option that allows Tray Components > "In Model" as default save. I hate having the "Components Sampler" as the default open option.
Have default template option that allows Tray Materials > "In Model". Somehow Mine always opens a "wood" folder.
I have tried creating a templates, saving the trays with "in model" as last opened, but new files always open to the above mentioned folders. -
Wish for LO to have a previous "camera" view feature like SKP - and with non-instantaneous transition time. Similar to AutoCAD's VIEWBACK command.
Wish for LO to get rid of the carriage return associated with copying text from a label or text annotation object. After I paste the string into the destination, I have to hit backspace.
-
Wish for LO paper not to be partially concealed by tool tray stack when shift + z is pressed.
-
Wish for SKP to permit user to place cursor on row of scene tabs and force them to scroll left or right in unison with mouse wheel sideway's toggle. Applicable mostly with numerous tabs stretching beyond workspace screen, of course.
-
Wish for LO to paste clipboard contents wherever the cursor is, like SKP does, instead of shadowing the original object.
-
Wish for dimension extension line gap at anchor points (offset from origin)to be adjustable.
