BIM Model Help

Hello All,
Not sure im in the right place/area please feel free to move the thread to where it needs to be.
I'm having trouble making BIMs desk models with full specification information.
Please see the screenshot above, where i have completed my desk model.
An now i want to add the information, however i don't know where to put the details as the descriptions aren't that helpful in describing what goes where.
If someone could explain what each box is looking for ect. or link me to a video explaining the process full. at work im on restricted internet access and cannot view youtube.
If there is particularly good tutorial videos others have seen if people can link, i will be able to persuade my boss to unblock it for me.I would also ideally like our clients to able change the materials and colors there end, is there anyway of doing this?
