not so cool for areas with bad connectivity and bandwidth problems, or expensive bandwidth for that matter

Can anyone say subscription based pricing? First thing I thought when I saw this, "oh no, they are setting up for a cloud-based, subscription-based business model ala Adobe."
Sure hope I'm wrong!

yep, me too, I hope that isn't the case either...
I wish the devs would stop pushing resources in providing product we didn't ask for and rather allocate those to developing/fixing the product we already have/use/love.

+1 Juju. I couldn't agree more.
Until I can group and organize my Layers Palette, they should work on nothing but, imho.
I feel the same way about the new inferencing engine they incorporated into 2016. I hate it. Snapping on small circles (like a ton of bolts) is a giant pain now since you get two inference dots and two dotted lines and you really have no idea what you are snapping unless you zoom in much further than you used to have to. It's very annoying and again, a solution to a nonexistent problem.
And how about clipping? Be nice if they did something about that which we have suffered with since day 1.
And call me crazy, but push/pull just doesn't erase faces like it use to. And, most annoyingly, it is inconsistent in which faces it does erase. Big time waster.
But hey, let's put our resources into a cloud-based app...I can almost guarantee it's going to be subscription-based. Why else would they have even bothered with developing a browser based app in the first place if it was;t in a drive to get the software out of our hands. sigh...

my.sketchup has a lot of missing sketchup features. I wouldn't be surprised if it would be part of the pro subscription. Trimble has a free account and my.Sketchup could tighten the link to that account.

I wonder as to why they created this (instead a fixing problems like the clipping issue). Would this be an answer to all requests for a Linux version? Without Ruby plugins a lot of people (including me) wouldn't be using SketchUp though. Still-signed up and curious.
-
Some of the setup they show might be good ideas to go into the REAL SketchUp. Personally I really don't have time to look into this, and I think a ho-hum response from users might get the message across, like "Oh thanks, but what about that old, old thing where SketchUp just hangs because I added tree."--that's going to be better on the internet?

Too early to judge, not sure how it fits into a larger goal or plan. Perhaps some basecamp attendees could fill us in.

I think, to not develop an entry level web version for schools and new comers would sound death nell for SU...
It could even replace 'Make' entirely and become the free version of the future...
Commercial usage could be bundled with the Pro licence and come in handy when your on the road, etc...
there is always cross fertilisation from seemingly divergent paths and in the long run SU 'desktop' will benefit from the swelling of staff and resources required for this endeavour...
my 2 pence...

besides the time spirit having everything online/in-the-cloud and with Tinkercad bought by Autodesk, Trimble maybe felt the need to have something comparable in this area... and to extent Trimble Connect of course.

Dave will be happy !

SketchUp Make and SketchUp Pro use Extensions using Ruby for adding functionality. This isn’t available in my.sketchup at this time

I thought it might give me the ability to look at 2015 and 2016 models but it says it's not compatible with my version of Chrome and, on IE, I just get a blank screen.

ZEN!
All to re-learn! Funny the half radial tool menus! -
A question : as each user can have free 10 Gigas, does it easy to manage several millions of users stockage?
Else no PushPull multiple?
ELse works like a charm!
