Ropefall released - draw ropes, wires, cables quickly
-
I also notice you are using the Free version of Sketchup which is not for commercial purposes.
-
Box, thanks for bringing this up. The restrictions in Sketchup Make Licence and the Developer Center Guidelines do not seem to state that one needs a pro licence for selling plugins.
-
Climbing on the bus with everyone else, don't really like subscription based software. Be a great plugin to have but wouldn't be using it everyday.
Going to gang up with Box. Creating a demo video in SU to help sell your product seems like commercial use to me ?
-
This seems like something that (at least a good few) people around here would find useful, even if it's only an occasional use, I'm keeping this one in mind should I require functionality such as this. Unfortunate about your licensing model, I'm not biting due to the subscription model...
There are a good few plugins / extensions that I would find useful (or just want), but stay away from due to subscription licensing model.
However, you continue as you see fit, it's your product! We'll continue as we see fit, it's our money...
-
I would purchase this, but I have to agree with all the others...
-
Well tried it and I have to say that it is pretty cool.
Some first thoughts:
-perhaps you can do it interacting only with objects that are placed in a "context" (I mean a group for example) because now it is almost unusable with high poly models. I assume because it tries to find a possible collision with every face in the model;
-I would like to have smoother curves where the cable is bent;
-now the generated cable has reversed faces;
-perhaps you can add different kind of cables-ropes;
-finally, I don't like that licensing system at all.@Pete: It seems to work already with "0" thickness btw.
-
Thanks massimo.
Does it have any stiffness control?
-
Nope for what I've tried. Anyway you can, by pressing "Esc", control the adherence to the edges you have drawn. Also you can use "0" thickness, manipulate the line and then do the cable using some other tool.
-
Thanks so much for the review massimo. This is worth a free licence to me. Pls drop me a quick email at ropefall@sketchrope.com if interested.
I will give away more for you guys just give me some time to implement your suggested improvements to make the most out of your reviews.
-
No worries. No need to give away anything, at least to me. Just put a fair price (not that subscription system) for the plugin and I will be glad to buy it, like many others here I believe.
-
I agree with the others. It looks good and I would buy if it wasn't subscription.
-
I agree with Pixero, no need for a freebie, we simply don't want to be on a leash.

free for three days, pay 10 USD for a perpetual licence incl. free upgrades & support for one year
I read your license. The way it is worded there are 2 interpretations.
- Support and upgrades are free for 1 year
- perpetual license including free upgrades - however support is for 1 year
I'm assuming you meant the first one.
-
changed wording, it is now similar to the one for Sketchup Pro:
"pay 10 USD for a perpetual licence plus one year of any new upgrades, maintenance, and support"
tell me if it is still not fully clear... thx!
-

I'll buy a license in the coming days. -
Downloaded the plugin again but the .rb file named "ropesketch_ropefall" seems missed.
-
thanks for checking massimo. It seems I have an issue in the build process, I'll correct it in the evening (EU time).
