This one you shared provided a good test for us.

Chedda since I've start modelling and rendering you've always been good... but you're getting better and better.
Love the dragons, love the athmosphere, love everything about it! I just feel something's odd about the cat's reflection...
Excellent!
-
Yeah the cat is strange i think it's because it's a billboard. I used real physically measured glass so it's not an engine issue being that it is unbiased. Thanks for the comments guys. So what is edge 3d an online viewer ? I assume you will be entering the Zelthaus comp Rich ? There are quite a few entries already here online i think its 10 days left to submit : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1015804908477388%26amp;type=1 Send me a PM Rich i'll be back later at some point. The model will need to be stripped out of assets and textures as its prepared for Maxwell.

Here's the diving suit proxy so it's easier to see, i found it on TF3DM here http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/diver-48844.html there is a collada version for sketchuppers.

Never heard of it and if it's related to facebook i don't have an account.
there's enough noise in this backroom never mind what happens behind closed doors elsewhere
-
I love interior composition...with cat.
-
I love the cat too (though I hate cats...) just the reflection seems off. Maybe it's the billboard as you say.
-
The Zelthaus model is here if any one is interested in this thread:
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=81%26amp;t=64171
Regarding the competition on Facebook there is some time to join in although it's getting close. Some members from here have already entered. I learned a lot with competitions, sketchucation has had comps before right ?
Here is another view from Villa Minima #5

2 more images, i think the 3d dog fixes the reflection.
-
Wow
-
-
The cat warned the dog about an intruder, the dog said i'll deal with this; you go and hide
-
Gorgeous renders - love the moodiness of the de-saturated images.
-
I didn't acknowledge when I saw you post these on facebook mate, that they were your own work! Wow, the mood of that first internal shot is awesome! Did you do the glass to the stair entry with the AGS with real glass MXM for edges trick? Or all real glass?
-
All glass Richard i bevelled the hell out the edges and the silicon joints .

Have you tried that trick though mate? It's so efficient, you still bevel but the bevels and edge use glass and faces of the glass in AGS. Much the same results, but fast!
-
Awesome! Love the black and white.
Richard, can you elaborate on the edge trick. "Did you do the glass to the stair entry with the AGS with real glass MXM for edges trick? Or all real glass?" AGS? MXM?
-
It could do with a speedboat or submarine garage a' la Bond villains pad but aht might be ott.

It's Maxwell Render speak mate!
AGS Architectural Glass Solution is a essentially a none material that has reflection so that light passes through it at no time cost.
MXM Maxwell material, hinting in this case as to real glass MXM.
The trick, and it's rather effective. To paint AGS materials on the front and back faces of the glass panel, whilst a real glass material is painted to the ends and bevels. It gives much the same result as all real glass but with little time costs in render.
In this example this trick is employed on the shower screen. Though not a great example as not strong light source is causing reflections or refractions of the bevels.
-
Yes Richard i am aware of it, it's a great little trick. I did try simple AGS planes at first but they looked wholly unrealistic at that range. Using this technique is a good work around. These tiny details like inside edges and bevels really do make a difference to realism. The scene was quite fast to clear perhaps because it was so transparent. If i'd hit the wall i would have used the AGS trick. There are some subtle bonuses with using all real glass like caustics, dispersion better reflections etc.
