      Hi everybody :

I need help with a situation. I had to re-install Windows 7 Professional 32-bit..due to a crash. I re-installed Sketchup 8, but keep getting this error message : "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line : 2396, Char : 3, Error : Expected Identifier string or number. Do you want to continue ? YES NO " I'm trying to figure out what the problem could be. HELP !
                                                                        garystan

        Hello garystan,

I'm no expert, but it seems like a javascript error, coming from a webdialog within your SketchUp 8. I have SU8 on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 and I don't get such errors. What I think you can do is update javascript and internet explorer.

If the error persists after the update, it could be related to the installed plugins. Do the following to determine whether the error is coming from the installed plugins.

        1. Close SU8
        2. Go to SU plugins folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8
        3. Temporarily rename the plugins folder to "Plugins2"
        4. Start SU8
If the error doesn't persist, this would mean that the error is plugin related and half of your problem is resolved; otherwise, the error is related to something else.

If its plugin related, simply create a new plugins folder, naming it "Plugins", move all folders from "Plugins2" back to the "Plugins" folder. Then move the .rb files one-by-one move back into the "Plugins" folder. While doing so, start SU and see if the error shows up. If the error does show up, then you know that the last moved ruby file is responsible for such error. What you could do is update the plugin causing the error or move to SU2016 as the plugin may not be compatible with SU8.

I just re-installed Sketchup 8. And I don't have any plugins installed....yet. Thanks for your replay and advice.
