Unstable viewports
-
Why do some of my viewports change style, scale, view or scenes after I set everything up perfectly and save the LayOut file? For example - it tells "last saved sketchup view". It happens when I switch back and forth between SketchUp and LayOut. Very frustrating - especially after I annotate.

If you set it to a scene, then it should not change on it's own to "last saved SU view". If it is doing that, then something is wrong.

I always create scenes in SketchUp for the purpose of having them shown in LayOut's viewports. There comes a time, however, when I need to double-click a viewport and use the pan tool to get the objects better composed or centered. Are you suggesting that should be avoided? That I should go back to SketchUp to recompose the scene instead?

OK ......Well, let me see if things improve with the 2016 version, that I just installed, in the coming weeks.

Actually that's what I'd suggest. Set the view in Sketchup and do not ever double click the model viewport--until you just can't find another way.
That was the stupidest thing they've done in LO so far--providing a "double-click" option that essentially defeats the purpose of LayOut, ruins your setup. (another was not naming these objects "viewports" or something sensible.)
If the subject matter is not correctly aligned in the viewport, you can resize the viewport.

FYI
Here is an example of a viewport in LO 2016 that was found with an unexpected style change when the program was re-launched. You can see 'hidden line' is checked, which is how I have it set-up in SU, but it's being erroneously displayed as 'shaded...'.

So the relaunching is causing the viewport to change. That is bad.

You simply need to reselect the correct scene in the Sketchup Model tray in Layout. The scene in the tray should never read "last saved sketchup view" It should read the saved scene name from Sketchup. That is the problem you are having and it will be the same from 2015 to 2016.
